On April 22, 2021, Borys Petrovych Zlobenko, an employee of the Institute of Environmental Geochemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, took part in the online event “End User Group Interaction with WP6” of the PREDIS project / “Radioactive Handling waste before disposal ”, which is performed within the framework of the agreement between the European Atomic Energy Community, presented by the European Commission and the State Institution“ Institute of Environmental Geochemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine ”.
The sixth PREDIS Work Package is aimed at deepening scientific knowledge on the management of organic radioactive waste (heat treatment, immobilization into stable forms) and gaining practical experience and recommendations for the transfer of relevant technologies to end users.
Presentations by Ondraf / Niras (Belgian National Agency for Radioactive Waste and Enriched Materials Management and Belgoprocess) (Ondraf / Niras Industrial Subsidiary) were presented during the event. involvement of the international scientific community in their solution.
During the discussion, it was repeatedly emphasized that it is very important to transfer new practical knowledge and technologies from the scientific community to end users for safer management of radioactive waste.
It is separately noted that it is a good and effective practice to involve end users of radioactive waste management technologies in the early stages of research projects to meet real scientific needs in practice.
