Employees of the Institute of Environmental Geochemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (IGNS NAS of Ukraine) on September 10, 2020 visited the training center of Khmelnitsky NPP and met with the management of Khmelnitsky NPP.
Within the framework of the meeting, leading scientists headed by the Director of the IGNS of the NAS of Ukraine, Corresponding Member of the NAS of Ukraine Yu.L. Zabulonov was presented with scientific and innovative developments in the sorting of radioactive waste, development in radiation monitoring systems, water treatment technologies for natural and wastewater. “We arrived at KhNPP to present the latest innovative developments of the Department of Nuclear Physics and Energy of the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Scientific developments of the institute’s specialists are used in Japan (Fukushima NPP), USA, England. Our department is also engaged in scientific work to extend the life of nuclear power plants and prepares innovative projects that can be implemented on NPP equipment. We hope that the joint cooperation of scientists and power engineers will contribute to the further development of both nuclear energy and scientific and technological progress of the country, “Yu.L. During the discussion of Khmelnytsky NPP specialists it was noted that the practical application of scientific developments at the nuclear power plant is possible only if a set of legal procedures and in accordance with the requirements of the State Inspectorate for Nuclear Regulation of Ukraine.
According to the results of the visit, promising areas of work of the scientific institution with KhNPP were identified, including: cementation of bottoms and salt smelting, release of radioactive waste from regulatory control, treatment of drinking and wastewater, modification of water treatment plants.
A similar visit is planned to the South Ukrainian NPP and Zaporizhzhya NPP.
According to the results of the visit, promising areas of cooperation between the scientific institution and the Khmelnitsky NPP were identified.
