The renaissance of nuclear energy

April 26, 2023 at the Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University, a lecture on the topic “Prospective models for the implementation of small nuclear reactors in Ukraine” was held, timed to commemorate the Chernobyl tragedy on April 26, 1986 , which became a huge man-made disaster, and the role of employees of the Institute of Environmental Geochemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in eliminating the accident itself and its consequences. The lecturer was a well-known scientist in the field of nuclear-radiation physics, doctor of technical sciences, professor, corresponding member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, director of the Institute of Environmental Geochemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Yuriy Leonidovych Zabulonov.

The issue of the future of Ukrainian energy systems and the creation of small modular reactors was also discussed.

Students and teachers participated in the discussion of the lecture and received well-founded and scientifically proven answers to their questions.
