Last week, I had the privilege of representing SIIEG NASU at the General Ansamblee and kick-off meeting of the EURAD-2 project in Ghent, Belgium. The European Partnership on Radioactive Waste Management, EURAD-2, aims to address the needs of all Member States inclusively. For the EURAD-2 kick-off meeting with 220 participants, 143 organisations from the EU and other countries were gathered. At the meeting, there were more than 18 technical WP presentations! The SIIEG NASU participation in EURAD-2 is spread among the different work packages (WP) as indicated below:
- WP FORSAFF: Waste Management for SMRs and Future Fuels;
- WP STREAM: Sustainable Treatment and Immobilisation of Challenges Waste;
- WP L’OPERA: Long-term Performance of Waste Matrices;
- WP InCoManD: Innovative and new Container/canister materials under Disposal Field Conditions: Manufacturing feasibility and improved Durability
The colleagues from the previous EURAD-1 and PREDIS projects will investigate scientific questions to advance radioactive waste management and nuclear safety. I am genuinely grateful to PMO for selecting our proposals for this project. Thanks to all my colleagues who make this possible!
