MODERN APPROACHES TO MINIMIZING THE CONTENT OF HEAVY METALS AND RADIONUCLIDES IN WASTEWATER USING SEPARATE SORBENTS

Abstract.Modern pollution of surface waters by wastewater and stormwater with a high content of heavy metal ions and radionuclides is a serious environmental problem. The lack of reliable technologies for purification and return of water to the natural cycle on Earth necessitates the development of new methods. One of the most promising areas is sorption technologies, which allow converting pollutants from a soluble state into solid forms. To achieve this goal, a structure is needed that will combine the functions of an adsorber and a settling tank, which will ensure effective work with various sorption materials, both in solid and liquid states. This study is aimed at creating a universal structure that is capable of working with sorbents in different aggregate states equally effectively and resource-savingly.The process of sedimentation of sorbent in water is characterized by the kinetics of sedimentation of conglomerates of sorbent flakes.Powdered bentonite and zeolite and a solution of copper ferrocyanide were used in the experiment.During the study, the following were determined: hydraulic size of bentonite and zeolite, dependence of the sedimentation rate on the temperature regime, full settling cycle.

Keywords: water treatment plants, water treatment, bentonite, clarifier-adsorber, hydraulic size, suspended particles, sorbent.
